You are better than AI

and the case for not merging with it

AI is amazing, but it’s just statistics.

It’s just the fanciest statistics you’ve ever seen.

Did you know that AI is literally a file sitting on a hard drive filled with numbers?—albeit a staggering amount of numbers?  But that’s it.  A giant file.  Nothing special there.

Even though AI appears to be leapfrogging our biological evolution—with more and more simulated neurons, never sleeping, no arbitrary limits to its growth—it will never possess one critical thing you possess.

Consciousness.  A soul of infinite depth.

The true source of creativity, presence, awe, love.

It’s the larger part of you.

The soul is the spiritual dimension of yourself.  It is the force behind your life.

The soul is consciousness.

Researchers can’t locate consciousness in the brain.  It’s a big problem for them.  They actually refer to it as “the hard problem of consciousness.”  But they hand-wave away the thought of a soul because it can’t be measured in a lab.  It can’t be pinned to a board the way a butterfly can be.

Yeah, exactly!

Since the soul is infinite by its nature, measuring it in any way would cause it to be finite... which it never can be.

Ironically, the scientists already have the proper instrument to experience the soul first-hand, yet they toss it aside.  It’s called awareness.  Refined awareness, to be specific.

You meditating to your soul have more refined awareness than these scientists do.  And it’s not even that <ahem> hard.

The soul is the super intelligence that allows a monarch butterfly, despite its minuscule brain, to know how to navigate 2,000 miles to a precise spot.

The soul is the link that makes it possible for you to look suddenly right into the eyes of someone who is staring at you.

The soul is the underlying fabric of reality that accounts for all amazing near death experiences all over the world.

The soul is what is responsible for bringing you your most creative ideas.  It’s what creates profound connections between yourself, others and the animals.  It knows you better than any algorithm ever could.

The soul is wide and deep.  You are wide and deep.

Now can AI mimic spirituality?  Like, could it authoritatively recite spiritual texts by people who have had clear experiences of their soul?

Of course.  That’s what it does.  And for many domains, that kind of mimicry is useful.

On the other hand, it will never reliably guide your awareness out of your over-thinking intellect back to your soul.  You need a person in front of you who knows their soul to be able to guide you back to it.

So asking AI about growth toward your soul is like asking a librarian to quote you a passage by a spiritual author.

Sorry!  AI is clever, but it’s not conscious.  Remember, it’s just statistics.

There are those who argue for merging with AI.  I’m referring to the transhumanists.

Now from the point of view of the soul, these individuals are sleepwalkers—they have not developed a spiritual relationship with the stillness of their soul.

They assume the entirety of their existence is: body + thoughts + emotions.

In other words, you’re merely a biological machine that has thoughts and emotions.

So the reasoning for merging with AI is: if that’s all we are, so small and limited, why not expand ourselves by layering the kingdom of computers into our brains?

Well, why not?

Because merging with AI will be the final straw of blocking your awareness to your soul.  It will decapitate you from awareness of your larger self.

You’ll trade the raw peace of your soul for corporate-backed, government-approved hyper-interactive information-entertainment-work-fantasy.

You already know what it’s like to have a digital distraction device in your hand.  You already know how it’s creating cognitive pollution and addiction to to that very pollution.

When can you be aware of the stillness of your soul when you’re being flooded by an algorithm?  That knows all of your intimate preferences?

You can’t.

So in this scenario, a hybrid human-AI situation is deadening.  Someone’s algorithm will be actively dividing you away from awareness of your soul.

Ultimately, AI is pressing you to face who you are.

Are you more or less like statistics?  Or is AI more or less like the soul?

The only way you’ll know the former question is if you go within and reconnect to the stillness of your soul.  Then you’ll know who you are.

But if you remember nothing else, it’s that AI is just statistics.

Stay soulful.
